San Antonio Police Wear Trump Hat, Get Suspended; But D.C. Cops Wear Pink Pussy Hat, and That’s Fine.

Two Washington, D.C. police officers got in on the action at the Women’s March in Washington on Saturday. They were in uniform, providing security for the March, and donned anti-Trump “Pink Pussy Hats” just like the protesters. Democratic strategist Dave Stroup posted their photo on Twitter:

Sort of “out of uniform,” wouldn’t you think? But D.C. Deputy Mayor  for Public Safety and Justice Kevin Donahue tweeted his approval. Gateway Pundit posted this screengrab of the Deputy Mayor’s tweet:

Hmm… So the guidelines for police officers’ uniforms are pretty relaxed, right?

Uh, no. In fact, just last October, during the presidential campaign, nearly two dozen San Antonio police officers were disciplined after they wore Donald Trump’s “Make America Great Again” hats while escorting the candidate to the airport. The San Antonio Express reported:

“Nearly two dozen San Antonio police officers have been disciplined for wearing “Make America Great Again” hats with GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump just before the candidate boarded his jet after a fundraiser here.

Police Chief William McManus met this week with 23 officers, including six supervisors, to discipline them for violating city policy, which prohibits any city employees from wearing political garb while on duty.”

Mayor McManus promised that “corrective action” would be taken. In a statement, he said that

“Six supervisors will be issued a written reprimand, and 17 officers will be provided written counseling. In addition, as part of the corrective action, the officers involved will receive training this month that will focus on the importance of impartiality and fairness in performance of official duties.”

Double standard, much?

It would be okay for the officer to wear the Trump hat when off duty before the election, but wearing one while on duty might give the message that the police department was 100% Republican. The true double standard would be if an officer wore a symbol of being pro-life at the women’s march and was told to remove it. I believe you can be pro-life and pro-pussy at the same time.
